Continuing our daily o-week outreaches, today we went to the UCT medical campus. It was a very tough experience but we believe we sowed some seed and trust God for fertile ground in future.

Orientation Week Campus Outreach
This week we’re doing outreaches on the university campuses evangelising one on one.
We continue to use a tool we call the God Test which makes evangelism less confrontational by merely asking people 9 specific questions that help start a conversation.
I was fortunate to lead one guy to the Lord today.
What’s exciting is seeing the students so eager to share the gospel with first years.
We’re trusting God to reach more students in the next few weeks. There’s 4000 new students at UCT alone…the harvest is plenty!
The rEVOLution has started!
Tonight we took up arms in prayer by walking the four corners of campus in groups (N, E, W, S). We prayed for the biblical truth to be found, taught & brought into the lives of fellow students & also the lecturers & campus staff.
We ended off by gathering on Jammie steps & as a unit, praying for the city of Cape Town, that we would be true ambassadors for Christ, that we would see the city transformed!
What an honour to walk amongst & with such young warriors in faith!
rEVOLution!
| We’re gearing up for Campus Harvest 2012, a rEVOLution – & it’s starting now! It’s based on when Jesus encountered the woman at the well. Jesus spoke straight into her life & that was the place of Encounter with Him. She in turn went to tell the whole town of The Man who set her free & then brought them all back to Him for their own Encounter with Him – thus the red arrow, stirring up a Love Revolution. We want to see a generation of students who constantly bring others back to Encounter Jesus & to in turn go out to gather others to have an Encounter |  |
Eph 6 ‘19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
Liesbeeck – from closed doors to salvations!
This year, in Liesbeeck residence at UCT, the wardens had decided to not allow any religious societies embarking on missions in the res.
| Ntando (middle in photo), one of the connect group leaders in Liesbeeck, decided to stand up & trust God. She went to speak to the head warden of the res to petition them to allow us to get inside to invite guys to church now while the first years are finding their feet. They agreed! Although only for one night. |  |
She sent out a ‘distress call’ to the rest of us, on Facebook, Twitter, email, sms, the works and a whole bunch came to help. As a result 3 guys got saved! A few more were reconnected to God – Awesome!
Well done Ntando on taking the lead on this one! God will give us every place we set out feet!
Res-2-Res Outreach Nov 2011
The harvest is plenty indeed. Twice a year just before exams we go out to the residences to encourage and pray for the students preparing for exams. This year is no different, this week is the first of two weeks of daily outreaches.
The team that went out for the outreach on Monday
I went on Yesterday (Monday 25 Oct) on the first of the daily outreaches with some of the men I walk with. You could just sense the presence of God that was there at Marquad residence because as we knocked door to door, we spoke plainly with all whom we met and the guys were so happy that we were there to pray for them.
I teamed up with Blake (one of the guys from the U.S. team that joined us) and after we told the first guy that we met that we were there to encourage him for exams and pray for him, Blake immediately asked him: "Before we pray, I just wanna ask - do you have a relationship with the Lord?" and right there we went on to share the gospel with him and he accepted Christ as Lord and Savior. From there at every room we knocked it was me boldly saying: “Before we pray with you, I just wanna ask you: Do you have a relationship with God”.
On that evening we led 2 guys to the Lord and one other gentleman recommitted his life to God. We weren’t turned down even once in all the rooms we went to. The harvest is plenty
Fearless Friday 2
This time around half of us went to Groote Schuur Hospital while the other half went to Rondebosch
About +40 of us came ready to experience the power of God move in people’s lives on 13 April 2011. Some of us did the God Test, some outreached ‘Treasure Hunting’ style while the hospital team went trusting God for miraculous healings.
And, there were many testimonies afterwards of people being healed in the hospital, people breaking down into tears as they were told of God’s love for them and many others. We’re putting a video together of some of the guys sharing their testimonies. I’ll post it up soonest!
My encounter:
| The team I went with met with people from the Hare Krishna faith who, in our terms, were doing an outreach of their own. They were chanting their god’s name hoping to get more people to sing along with them in the belief that singing god’s name brings his presence to earth. |  |
We walked up to them and started chatting to them. We put aside our ‘outreach faces’ and asked them to tell us about their faith. this led to a 40 min conversation (not argument) where the lady (whom I was speaking to) told us in detail why they believe what they believe. We merely posed questions to her in hopes to minister the truth, questions such as “What gives you the certainty in your belief”, “what’s the criteria for heaven, who decides and how do they decide?”
At a stage she asked us the same questions and we got a chance to minister the gospel of Jesus to her and how that’s changed our lives. Her response was that “that’s what works for you and in our faith we accept that…” She then had to leave. We’re trusting that God planted seeds on her mind & heart and that what we ministered to her will go a long way to bring her salvation.
It’s also encouraging to see that though we step out in faith for God to reach people, God also meets us and we always leave so encouraged and blessed to see Him at work.
Groote Schuur Outreach testimony
Between 28 march & 1 April about 20 to 30 students from UCT & CPUT went into Groote Schuur to do a mission.
The aim was to bring God’s love & healing to people in need. The gospel was shared to many and we believe seeds were sown in people’s hearts – 2 people gave their lives to Christ on the first night. Some of the testimonies include a person who had been in hospital for days was prayed for and got discharged the next day, we believe it was as a result of the students that prayed for him. There was a big change in the atmosphere in the hospital with many patients feeling loved and encouraged & experiencing joy in their circumstance.
One of the testimonies:
| “While we were walking in the passage called Hospital Street, I saw a patient walking slowly..we decided to talk to him. He was very lonely, no one had come to visit him. His name is Donavan, from Mannenburg. He is at the hospital for surgery as he has some liver problems. |  |
“He was struggling to walk as a result. Sno, a student who was with me, asked him if she could pray for him..after praying, he got teary and then said the pain was gone.
He walked without any pain to his ward, he was in tears the whole time. He said to us, 'I've heard about Jesus, but I don't know him..I want to know Jesus'. Since, he got sick, he had been crying out to God. We are going to visit him tomorrow to give him a Bible and go thru One2One. Tomorrow is a big day for Donavan, he is going for X-rays and then possibly have to go for surgery on Thurs. We are trusting for complete healing. His heart is to go to Mannenburg and tell his family and community about what Jesus had done for him.”
Fearless Hospital Mission
Daily hospital missions to Groote Schuur Hospital in Observatory
This week Linda Mlotshwa (a medical student at UCT) is leading a team for anyone who is keen to go into Groote Schuur Hospital to visit patients just to be there for them and pray for them. We are trusting God to minister God’s love to many and for opportunities to share the gospel. |

1st God Test Testimony
On Friday I used the God test to someone I didn’t know for the first time as we did an outreach in Rondebosch.
| The God test is simply 20 questions about God and faith that are geared to help us get into conversation with people when we evangelise - 10 for people who don’t believe in God completely and 10 for people who believe in God or a god. So I walked up to this gentleman and told him who I am and that we’re from His People Baxter just walking around Rondebosch telling people about God’s love for them. | |
I then asked him if he believes in God to which he said yes. Then I showed him the God Test pamphlet and said: “check this out, this is something we developed our church to help you understand what you believe. It’s just 10 questions like the one I just asked you, would you like to try it out?” He said “yes” and I then asked him the God Test questions (which asked his thoughts on God, heaven, entry to heaven, etc.) and by the time we got to question 9 “Would you like to know what the bible says about these questions?” he was very interested to hear because the 8 previous questions helped him discover the inconsistencies in what he himself believed.
In answering question 9 I shared the gospel with him explaining salvation and lordship to which he said: “I want to receive Christ, what do we do now?” and I helped him accept Jesus as Lord and savior.
| It’s such a privilege to partner with God as He reaches for His people, and the God Test really is a helpful tool in that by merely asking key questions and just listening to the person and hearing them out it can earn you the opportunity to share the gospel. The God Test uses SALT: Start a conversation, Ask lots of questions, Listen carefully and Tell God’s story. | |

Fearless Friday – Outreach 1
On Friday 25 March 2011 20 of us went into the Rondebosch community for an outreach
| The agenda was simple – go out and minister God’s love to people. We prayed up asking God to reveal to us in prayer the people He wanted us to reach are, where they are, what they might be wearing and what their need is. We call it treasure hunting. |  |
The testimonies were amazing: many people were open to hear us and do the God test and manywere open to be prayed for, and we had one guy invite Christ into his heart & life! We’re trusting God that our lifestyle will be characterised by us being in tune with God all the time and ready and available to share the gospel any time. My personal testimony is here.
The First Fearless Friday!
| | This year’s heart/vision for the year on campus is FEARLESS! So, starting this Friday Fearless Friday is about evangelising. We will be prayerfully going out to our neighbourhood to reach people. Prayerfully because we’re trusting that God will show us the people to reach and perhaps give us a word of knowledge for them & share the gospel with. |
Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

UCT Outreach with Rice Broocks
We’ve just finished the first evening session of the God test outreach with Ps Rice Broocks
| The method is easy but not simple: SALT |  |
I learned so much watching how Ps Rice interacts with the people asking them questions and being mindful not to prove them right or wrong but talk and through dialogue help someone realise what they believe and ask themselves whether there’s grounds for what they believe.
| Praise to the Lord! We’re looking forward to an explosive evening tomorrow night! We haven’t seen so many unsaved people being so open to interact and debate about God and faith. Is this the start of things to come…? |  |
Rice Broocks UCT Outreach
What a week this has been! So jam packed including that Rice Broocks co-founder of Every Nation ministries is coming to UCT & CPUT to reach out to students with the gospel.

We are trusting God that many unsaved people will come and through the conversation encounter God.
On Sunday 27 February he’s going to run a training teaching guys how to evangelise using this strategy – come one come all!
